Meeting FORS & DVS Standard Requirements
From March 1st 2021, as part of Transport For London’s Direct Vision Standard (DVS), all vehicles more than 12 tonnes gross vehicle weight (GVW) will require an HGV safety permit to operate in Greater London. To obtain this permit, changes must be made to your HGV vehicle safety features if you have not done so already.
The majority of these changes are also required to obtain Bronze/Silver accreditation under the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme, (FORS). Upgrading your vehicle fleet will not only bring you in line with current and future DVS regulations, but will also allow your business to be recognised as a FORS bronze or silver member.
Many transport businesses have already enrolled on the FORS scheme. Completing accreditation not only reflects your organisation’s investment in ensuring the safety of road users, but also brings your operators in line with the ‘Safer Lorry Scheme’ at Bronze level, and ‘CLOCS’ requirements at Silver level.
