How to watch out for lone workers with Leversedge

How to watch out for lone workers with Leversedge

If you are looking to improve how you watch out for lone workers in your workplace and would like to incorporate a robust health and safety and lone worker policy, we can create a tailored communications solution to suit your needs at Leversedge, specially crafted for your industry.

With the rise in flexible working hours, home deliveries, community services and less fixed workforce locations, there are more lone workers than ever in our midst – and sometimes, these isolated team members can be exposed to dangers, potential accidents and violent behaviour.

With a heavy reliance on lone workers, it’s your responsibility to put procedures in place to protect them and watch out for them – and that’s where Leversedge come in, with advanced two-way radios featuring Lone Worker Mode. This feature really can save lives.

These radios still work in exactly the same way as other two-way radios, allowing for clear, instant communication, but they offer additional functionality that really is invaluable, proving to be an asset in most lone worker scenarios.

Lone Worker Mode is an innovative safety check that sounds a tone at regular intervals – the lone worker must respond as otherwise, linked radios are alerted. If the worked cannot be found and doesn’t respond, a search is then conducted. Some digital radios even have a software add-on that lets you see on a map where each and every radio user is, whether they’re inside or outside, so you can easily find them if they don’t respond.

If you have team members regularly working alone, whether it’s in manufacturing, education, hospitality, logistics, healthcare or retail, trust Leversedge to find the right communication solution for you. If your personnel cover large, remote areas or if they operate in hazardous environments, it’s in both their and your interests to provide optimal protection, and two-way radios with Lone Worker Mode are here to do just that.

If two-way radios with Lone Worker Mode are what you’re missing in your business, contact Leversedge today so you can watch out for lone workers in the best way possible.

Two-way radios

Two-way radios – what are they and how do they work

As the communication tool of choice around the world, two-way radios are easy to use, offer an instant means by which to hear and be heard, and they’re also robust, reliable, clear and clever. Many people get them confused with walkie-talkies, and it’s easy to see why, but we’re here at Leversedge to clarify the difference between the two and help you to find the right communication solution for your business.

A walkie-talkie is a two-way radio, but a two-way radio is not always a walkie-talkie…at Leversedge, we offer a wide range of walkie-talkies, also known as License-Free Portables. Developed for military use in WWII and becoming available for commercial use thereafter, these simple but effective handheld radios use a simple push-to-talk system. Very basic versions are also used as children’s toys!

With many reputable brands available including Motorola, Kenwood and Hytera, this type of radio may be suitable for your requirements. They are popular for both leisure and commercial use, providing a low-cost, short-range radio service using a shared band of frequencies. If you think License-Free Portables may be suitable for your business, speak to a member of the Leversedge team to find out more.

If you’re looking for a system that’s much more sophisticated, we have the more advanced offering of two-way radios – used in many industries, both Analogue and Digital Portable radio variants are available. Analogue two-way radios are sophisticated pieces of equipment that minimise potential interference from other radio users with a licensed radio solution for a professional communication system throughout an entire business. Digital two-way radios go the extra mile by offering many additional features and functionalities, including supporting larger coverage areas, superior audio quality, enhanced security and prolonged battery life.

Both analogue and digital two-way radio communication devices are water and dust-proof, so they can be taken anywhere, even on building sites; intrinsically safe models are also available. They’re ideal for situations that require immediate responses and where a delay could be detrimental – the emergency services and the security industry are both great examples. With instant communication at each member of staff’s fingertips, you don’t have to go through the process of dialling, ringing, holding and answering to speak to someone – you push and speak, and users on the same frequency hear you instantly and clearly.

As an additional offering, lone workers get extra protection with two-way radios – if the radio is put into lone worker mode, this will sound a tone at regular intervals, and the user must respond – if they don’t, the other radios are alerted.

Commercial two-way radios are an excellent way to maintain communication and keep your business operating efficiently. There’s no delay in communication, they operate radio-to-radio independently from any other system, and they don’t overload or fail in bad weather, crisis or emergency situations like telephone lines can do. They’re even are able to operate without electricity and you can have your own exclusive frequency allocation for your business, keeping communications secure.

Commercial two-way radios are even more sophisticated than many people think – with an array of technologies, systems and types to choose from, contact Leversedge today to find out more. Whatever level of sophistication you require, our team can help you to find the ideal solution for your business, making you more effective, efficient and better connected.

Unified communications

Unified communications – how can we help?

The goal of unified communications is to integrate all methods of communication, from radios to emails, to form one easy method that workers can use to communicate with their teams and colleagues, whatever device they are using. These solutions are already revolutionising the way that organisations communicate not just with each other, but with other organisations, offering a safe, practical and easy way to connect with the world.

Thanks to the cutting-edge technology we offer at Leversedge, such as Motorola MOTOTRBO™ WAVE, you can change the way your organisation communicates for the better, instantly connecting two-way radios, smartphones and even computers to one network, making sure no one is ever out of reach.

Imagine you need to get an urgent message to a colleague who’s only got their radio with them, or you’re in charge of a team who can’t carry radios with them. That’s where unified communications comes in, connecting disparate land mobile radio systems together to create a more efficient method of communication. WAVE even allows you to communicate with key work partners even if they don’t use a Motorola radio system, breaking boundaries across the sector.

From housekeeping to security, WAVE allows you to communicate freely in the way that suits you, making the whole of your employee base a simple phone call away. You’ll even be able to integrate outside contractors onto your network temporarily, helping every event run smoothly. And once the event is over, you’ll be able to deactivate the temporary licenses quickly and without fuss, with no need to organise the return of radios and equipment.

Not all employees need radios, and WAVE is a smart solution to keep those who don’t in contact with the whole team, wherever they are. Explore the whole range of innovative and cutting-edge products that we offer at Leversedge, and find your unified communications solution today.
